Girl Scouts Forever Green

As of June 2012, Girl Scouts have engaged over 66,000 people in Girl Scouts Forever Green projects and have had an additional 21,000 take the Girl Scout Forever Green Pledge.

We’ve had a significant, measurable environmental impact. Together, we’ve:

  • Saved approximately 353 million kWh of energy;
  • Eliminated nearly 575 million pounds of CO2 (equivalent to the yearly emissions of over 51,000 cars);
  • Conserved more than 173 million gallons of water; and
  • Eliminated 62 million pounds of waste.

We’re aiming for hundreds of thousands of Girl Scouts and non-members to get involved in Girl Scouts Forever Green—and there’s still time! Keep using the web banners, drive folks to take the Pledge online, and have them register their project results. The paper pledge(found on Pearl) can also be used during events, at schools, or in troop settings where computers are not available; volunteers or older girls can enter these pledges later.

Keep the program active in summer camps and the new membership year. Click here for an in-depth look at the impact of Girl Scouts Forever Green on our global community. You’ll find our total impact to date as well as council, USAGSO, and individual stories.
