100 years of history. 3 days of celebration. A once-in-a-lifetime experience.

The place is Houston, Texas. The event is the 2011 National Council Session/52nd Convention, November 8 – 13.

The time spent in Houston will be historic, euphoric and unconventional. The party will be bigger than ever as the Girl Scouts of the USA celebrate 100 years of an organization committed to the mission of building girls of courage, confidence, and character who make the world a better place.

This once-in-a-lifetime experience will be packed with a myriad of activities including . . .

Conversations of Consequences – How will the Girl Scouts create a tradition of philanthropy?

Speakers & Entertainers – opening speaker Katie Couric, ABC news journalist, author and television personality; TNT Maddox, first-year guard with the Harlem Globetrotters; Marlee Matlin, actress and philanthropist; Soledad O’Brien, special investigations; Stephanie Smith, Nobel Peace Prize Nominee; Sara Bareilles, singer-songwriter; Robin Roberts, co-anchor of Good Morning America; as well as many more talented individuals.

National Council Session – delegates and official visitors will explore the Girl Scout issues of the day, ensuring the future of our movement is bright with promise for girls.

In 2012, we will mark 100 years of Girl Scouting. Juliette Gordon Low imagined that Girl Scouts could be “the magic thread” that would connect girls everywhere, and for 50 million women, the ties have never been stronger. Together, we can make 2012 the Year of the Girl.

We have several delegates, official visitors, staff members, board members, and girls attending this convention. Many of them will be blogging their experiences throughout their time at the event. Stay tuned for awesome updates from the convention!
